Ilam's Hot Spas

We live on a planet full of mysteries. From north to south and east to west, there are beauties and wonders that make us feel amazed.

That's true that one must be fortunate to see all the wonders of the world, but believe me that Iran has nothing less than rest of the world.

Close your eyes for a few seconds and imagine a volcano that instead of lava erupts hot water whose color changes in seven colors during the day as the sun moves through the sky. And now gently put your feet in the water to feel them refreshed.

Don't you feel good already? Aren't you amazed? Give me your hand and let us set out on our trip in our beautiful Iran. We are about to go to Dehloran which is a small, warm city in Ilam Province, west of Iran.

Andimeshk-Dehloran smooth straight road leads us to the hot spas full of health benefits that are called "Sargaru" in the local language.

The hot spas are located three kilometers away from Dehloran City at the foot of a mountain which is called "Siah Kouh" (Black Mountain) near a cave called "Khofash" (The Bats Cave).

Being running water with the temperature of about fifty degrees Celsius, and having sulfur keeps the water always clean.

Besides the hot water and mud therapy indoor pools, there is the possibility of swimming in the shallow river at the foot of the mountain. This water gets cold at the bottom of the mountain and is used for herding and agricultural consumption.

The experience has proved that this sulfuric hot water is helpful for the broken bones, skin diseases, wounds, arthritis, and muscle cramps.

There is no scientific proof yet why the water's color changes into seven colors during the day but it is interesting to know that this permanent change of the color has been used in the local language to make a proverb "S/He is like the Sargaru" to refer to unreliable people.

As Dehloran is located in a warm and hot region, the best time to visit this place is March and April. Visiting vast green plains and Ashayer (Nomads) with their black tents here is something which can surely uplift your soul.

Don't throw your bottles of water away. Fill them with the valuable sulfuric sludge here and take them with you. Perhaps you have an elderly dear back home who is unable to travel this long to Iran.

At the time of your arrival to the spas, the sharp smell of sulfur might bother you. But we guarantee that very soon your nose will get used to it and you'll enjoy your trip and your day.

Note: We recommend that you first get your doctor's advice about traveling to the sulfuric spas if you suffer from heart or respiratory diseases
