Kerman is located in the southeast of Iran far away from Tehran. Kerman was briefly the capital of Iran during the reign of Zand monarchs and thus an important economic and political center. However, this prosperous and major Iranian capital was looted and heavily damaged after Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar captured the city; putting an end to the reign of his nemesis, Lotfali Khan Zand. Despite these catastrophic series of events, Kerman soon recovered from the blow and reclaimed much of its former glory. This resulted in the construction of many new monuments and edifices that added to the splendor of the city. Probably the most important tourist attraction of the city and the principal spot for Kerman day tours is Arg-e Bam, the largest adobe construction in the world. According to experts, the earliest establishments in Arg-e Bam date back to more than 2500 years ago making it one of the most ancient citadels in the world. But Kerman has much more to offer besides its famous Arg. Some of these major tourist spots which are also included in our one-day sightseeing tour of Kerman are Kerman’s bazaar, an old center of commerce in the region, the marvelous Ganjali Khan Complex built in Safavid era, the beautiful Malek Mosque with its sublime Islamic Iranian architecture and Zoroastrians Museum of Kerman that boasts the biggest collection of the priceless items related to this ancient Persian religion. Among other fascinating tourist magnates of the city (also included in our tour) is the great Jabalieh dome in Kerman, another favorite of tourists. As another remnant from the pre-Islamic period, this massive edifice made from stone and brick is one among many majestic instances of the religious architecture of Zoroastrianism.
