Iran Art Gallery Tours
If you are an art enthusiast and you plan to visit Iran, our art gallery
tours must be in your agenda. Is Iran a destination for art tours? You might
ask. The answer is a definitive yes! Iran’s classic masters of miniature
paintings have created epitome of Eastern art in delicate strokes and fine
colors of their imperishable oeuvres. The towering figure of Kamāl ud-Dīn Behzād
is enough to draw millions of art buffs to the land where this god of artistry
tread and observe the world that later came out from the prism of his soul as
virtuosic miniatures. Feeling the great weight of their predecessors’ genius,
Iranian modern artists endeavored to create art worthy of their commendable
cultural heritage and they reached the pinnacle of their craft. Leaning on such
a glorious artistic legacy, young Iranian artists are finding new ways to
bedazzle their audience and art galleries are brimming with the abundance of
their staggering works. But the name Iran is resonated within art coteries
around the world for reasons other than their copious production of Iranian art.
Iran houses the largest collection of modern Western masterpieces outside the
Europe and the USA. Gauguin, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso, Kandinsky,
Pollock, Bacon and Warhol are just a few names in the priceless treasury of
Iranian Museum of Contemporary Arts. In the light of the facts enlisted above,
one could easily deduce that arts alone can be a more than adequate reason to
travel to Iran. Knowing the huge potential of Iranian art tourism, travel
agencies are wily enough to include art tours in the list of their annual
packages. IranTours Group as one of the pioneers of unconventional tour
packages, is proud to offer its unremitting service to the art lover from all
around the globe. Our packages are usually in the form of small group tours
visiting art galleries and museums that house Iranian art works as well as world
masterpieces bought and brought to Iran by wealthy Iranian patrons. There are
many national and religious holidays in Iran and if you want our advice, you’d
better come to Tehran on these “red days” because all galleries and museums are
open and there is light traffic in the city. Therefore, during Iran holidays our
art tour packages aren’t available. One last thing you should know about Iranian
holidays is that weekly holidays (or weekends) in Iran are Thursdays and Fridays
as opposed to western weekend which includes Saturdays and Sundays. Most of the
art tours in Iran that solely cover art museums and galleries are centered in
the capital. Arts have a long history in Asia and in the course of art tours you
will be fully acquainted with the development of arts in Iran. The paintings and
other artworks that you will come across in our art tours in Iran are nothing
you have ever seen before in Asia. The collections in the art museums and
galleries encompass a whole gamut of classic and modern art from famous Persian
art of miniature to contemporary Iranian and western art. The highlight of the
tour is undoubtedly the visit to the famous Iranian museum of Contemporary art
in Tehran. Furthermore, Tehran’s annual art auction is the main forum where
Iranian artwork in general and Iranian paintings in particular are for sale.
Among the major Persian artworks for sale in Tehran Auction were paintings by
the modern Iranian poet and painter, Sohrab Sepehri and the famous Iranian
modern painter and sculptor Bahman Mohasses.

Iranian Modern Art
Iranians have always been among the
trailblazers of modern art in Asia. Modern
Iranian artists have tried their hands in a whole gamut of modern arts
experimenting with radically different forms and material. Figures of Iranian
modern art like Bahman Mohasses, Mohsen Vaziri-Moghaddam, Marcos Grigorian,
Parviz Tanavoli, Siah Armajani, Hossein Zenderoudi, Monir Shahroudy
Farmanfarmaian and Aydin Aghdashloo are household names in cultural cliques in
the world and their enduring masterpieces continue to inspire the younger
generations of artists.
Ancient Persian Art and Architecture
As one of the
most ancient civilizations in the world, Persians have been
creating art since prehistoric times. Viewing some dating back to thousands of
years B.C. it appears that Iranians thought of everything in terms of art. When
they needed containers to carry liquids with they made the most delicate sets of
pottery with mysterious ornamental patterns on them. If what they needed was a
piece of rough cloth to sit on, they made the heavens humbled by the utter
sublimity of hand-woven Persian carpets. And when they wanted a shelter they
didn’t simply build a house, but they created an abode where nature, religion,
mythology, philosophy and literature were as indispensable to the structure of
buildings as stones, bricks and plaster. In the course of travelling around
Iran, you will find various instances of ancient Persian architecture. From the
formidable columns of Persepolis to the palatial dome of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque
you feel a similar longing; an unquenchable thirst for a droplet of eternity.
Persian Artists Paintings
Among the most celebrated Iranian classic artists are
Behzad whose paintings set
new standards in the art of miniature and was regarded as the touch stone for
other miniature masters. To continue the tradition of their great predecessors,
modern Persian artists responded by producing dazzling works of modern art in
form of paintings, sculptures and other mediums.
